Meet our Total Nutrition power couple, Ken and Jenna Stafford! Ken and Jenna have been married for 7 ½ years and have two boys, Camden and Zachary.
Since they have been married they have lived in 3 different states and 5 different homes and overcome some major life changing circumstances.
Their youngest son Zachary was born in 2008 weighing just over 1 pound with many health issues. For over a month the doctors insisted they let him go claiming he would have absolutely no quality of life. After the fourth time, they told the doctors that they absolutely were not going to give up their son unless God took him from them.
After 130 days in the NICU, 15 different brain surgeries, 2 bouts with viral meningitis, and therapy that still continues, he is a thriving 6 year old boy who shows them on a daily basis what it means to not give up and that big things happen when you believe they can!
In March 2011, Ken was on his 5th deployment overseas in Afghanistan where his helicopter crashed while taking a fight to the enemy. There were 26 soldiers in the helicopter and all of them survived. Some walked away without a scratch and others had to be medevaced, including Ken.
Ken suffered from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and spent several months in treatment in Nebraska. Since he had no visible wounds, it was a hard injury for people to understand, or even believe. It took nearly two years for him to receive relief from the trauma that his brain took that day.
While trying to fix the pain and attempt at a somewhat normal life, Ken found himself addicted to alcohol and narcotics. Ken found himself at a crossroads where he needed to choose whether or not he was going to focus on getting his life and family back, or a life of addiction. He chose to take control of his life and be the best husband and father he could be for his family.
Early in 2014, Jenna was encouraged by her fellow employees to enter a bikini competition. She had already spent the last several years training women on how to live healthier lifestyles.
She knew that it would not be something she would thrive in if Ken wasn’t on board with the process. Ken agreed to do the prep with her but thought he could never be at a place physically to do a competition in the physique division.
Not only did they both achieve amazing results, Ken had been so successful that he decided he could compete in a show! After they got their first show under their belt, they were hooked!
With Jenna’s background in fitness training and nutrition, and Ken’s medical background as a licensed flight paramedic, they are both on a mission to help teach others the importance of health and fitness. Together, they want to inspire individuals, as well as couples, that they can accomplish anything that they set their minds to!
